I am gong to run away....New recipes.......

I decided today that I am going to run away...dont worry, i shall return. I am oging to HUNAGRY to visit my freinds and god children. I must get away or I will loose it. The stress of business and everything else is getting to me..... I must practice up on all 123 Hungarians words I used to know..... and get ready to eat and eat and eat and eat and eat>>>>

Tonight a made a new creamed soup....with what ever was laying around the kitchen....here goes..into boiling water...two sticks of celery, one small rutabaga, two carrots, one small ripe acorn squash, two large onions, one clove of garlic,one large potatoe....i letter it simmer for a very long time until everything was mushy and the water was almost boiled out.. When cooled.....I put it thru the Cusinart FOOD PROCESSOR...then i added salt, black pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon.....and then simmered it for 5 min..and then added half and half...to the desired consistency...and then...heated...but dont let it boil. It was similary to the cream of Butternut Squash....but a little different...subtle and wonderful. Add chopped parsley or scallon on top before serving.

Baby Colin's Baptism, Dinner at Picatinney Arsenal,and Lamb&Potatoe knish etc

Today Monday, we were getting over the worst business weekend in the history of GRANNYS ATTIC, well at least in HOHOKUS. Well, it was YOM KIPPUR...and we fasted....well, fasted from business. You all know that although I am very spiritual, I do not follow any of the rules and regularions of my or anyones elses relgion! if you combine a holiday...and gorgeous weather, its a recipe for disaster...when it comes to get customers out.....but thank the SPIRITS...MONDAY was a good day, and although it didnt make up for the weekend...it was very good. AMEN.

My neice adn nephew decided to bring the children up in the CATHOLIC RELIGION.....If they kids follow it, they will get a JEWISH dose of it from te OLD TESTAMENT...They will also learn that DADDy and his side of the family is JEWISH, and if they choose, they can always revert back to it.....practice both of them...which wouuld then have brisket, chicken soup guelfete fish, baked ham for CHRISTMAS?HANNUKA. We always had a Christmas tree since I was a baby...so what... its a beautiful symbol, ajoyous thing to have in the house...and we are helping other celebrate their holiday.....hopefully the children will grow up happy, and unconfused of theri dual heritage....
BABY Colin ALexander Brief....was baptised yesterday in OUR LADY OF THE LAKE Church in Sparta, along with 7 other little babies....it was the very first Babtism that I attened....it was al aymbolic...as is most relgious ceremonies.....It was a beautiful and happy ceremony...except the PRIESTRS Microphone broke...and he had no amplification of his voice....and to make things worse...there must have been 2o babies in their crying...on and off. BUT NOT MY GORGEOUS LITTLE HAPPY SMILING COLIN...that kid was so good..it was amazing..Most of the kids cried when they were annointed with oil, or babtized with water...NOT COLIN...he was so good...and this kid has a killer smile..so infectious.But I must admit..dear readers.....he made ME CRY. WHY.....I looked into his eyes, and his smile.....but then I realized...(I amight be crying now too) that I will never get to know him. He is 5 months old. I am going to be 68. The odds are that...I will never get to know him as an adult...and wht he will be thinking..and what his character will be like. Hopefully I might see his tenth birthday.... And I will always wonder what his children will be like and what they will do....and so on and so forth. This is happy and sad in the same breath. We are all alotted a certain time on earth...and we should use it well. and not dwell on sadness..but pursue happyness and the spread of it...and of englightenment...as BUDDAH did....and suggested that we should do....AM I a BUDDIST....no....maybe a closet or latent Buddist.....well, it is really a philopshy and not a religion.......and Buddah was not a GOD..he was just a man...who disvered a path to live and wanted to help other achieve happiness and fullfillment...he only suggest a path....and he said the Path of Enlightenment is a long road (and I say bring a sandwhich)
The Dinner after the Baptism was held a few miles down the road....at the PICATINNEY ARSENEL.....the place where we develop all our guns and ammunititon and smart bombs....the Restuarant was between the BUILDING where they develop mortar shells and a gold course...So if we didnt get hit with an experimental mortar shell, we could get clobbered by a golf ball.....all was good and everyone was safe.

THe Restaurant..turne dout to be the officeres club...WHY the UNITED STATE GOVERNMENT..has top secret opperations there...where we had to go thru a tunnerl will xrays, bomb sniffing machines, and every other type of scientific stuff....and then drive thru a maze of concrete barriers...and almost a body cavity search...they rent out the place for parties.. to anyone??? There was a wedding going on at the same time......I thought of this as very funny....the government spends a million dollars on one smart bomb and wants to raise money for the research center by babtisms, weddings and barmitzvahs???
The food was faily good..and fresh....the people friendsly on both sides of the family...and it was a very pleasant..day.....So many of the people walked around carrying little COLIN...he loved everyone...he never cried....he was so adaptable to the situation...I never sae a baby that could be up allday, and not get cranky..wasnt scared by strangers...this kid will go far...Since is isnt JEWISH...hey, he might grow up to be president of the UNITED STATES....and this isnt a joke...I really felt greatness when I looked into his eyes..

Some food news......We baked a leg of lamn in the store today......and it was baked in water..which made a nic panfull of drippings.... I took some of it home, cut up the lamb in small pieces, and added it to the drippings, on cut up onion, some fresh cilantro, and a few cups of vegatarian curry left over from a few days ago...heated it all up, thickened it with corn starch....added some more curry, salt and pepper....and it was fantastic...orgamic.. Served over some brown rice, cooked up with some salt, pepper and garlic......you can also add some raisins.....and cinnamon....

i folowt he recipe for Bisquick Biscuits...added a few tablespoons of SPLENDA, and about 12 sliced fresh strawberries....baked for about 12 min...it was a low sugar muffin....crumbly and tasty.. I pt on a dab of butter...hmmmmmmmmmmmm

NAture:Hurricanes,Tornadoes..here and there..

Here, only miles away in Brooklyn and QUeens, two tornadoes touched down, wreaking havoc that we usually associate with Dorothy,TOTO and Kansas. YOur not in Kansas anymore....your in NYC. The Storm ripped the shit our of Brooklyn and QUeens, and some other places,including a small tornado in South Jersey...but the damage was mild compared to the BIG APPLE. Luckily, only one poor woman was killed when she pulled over to wait out the storm. She probably couldnt see...to drive...and although she did the right thing, the POWERS ABOVE had something else instore for her...when a huge tree fell on her car, and escorted her directly to heaven..Now you expect me to belive in higher powers, when such an innocent young woman had to die...but I dont want to get into a religous conversation at this time.
Those of you who follow my blog....my ranting and raving aboput anything and everything.....from food to religion to politicas...to insanity.....will remember that this past February, Iwent to visit EDIIE and his family in MEXICO....Veracruz...well Hurrican KARL....smacked into Veracruz 24 hours ago....and the house where in which I stayed, Eddies mother, his grndmothers house down the block....and his cousins house across town, are now underwater!! There is no lights, elctric,m telephone, cell phone, no street lights...no nothing>>>>>the family is living in emergency shelters...schools. Since there is no electric, no one can buy anything on a credit card....and Eddie cannot reach anyone by phone. There are two rivers in the town,both which had overflowed....and the town was attacked by the waters from two sides....
Today is YOM KIPPUR....the holy holy days of the JEWISH people...A good Jew is supposed to be in temple, asking GOD for forgiveness for all the sins committed during the year, and then fast all day....well fast since sundown last night until dundown tonight. My sins have been minimal.....maybe i hurt a few peopls feelings, and usually if so, they deserved it...but one is supposed to be kind at all times..and maybe I went thru a few stop signs or yellow lights, but I dont think there is anything in the bible forbidding those....so they do not qualify as a sin. I am sure I told a hand full....or a few handfulls of white lies.....but who one earth doenst.....But one the whole, I think that if there is a diety up there...or whereever gods are supposed to hang out........he,or she or it....wouldnt be too displeased with me.
I do not fast...I do not pray, and I do not ask for forgiveness in the intense manner that relgious JEWS do. I have my own beliefs..that are not necessarily JEWS...but Spiritual. When I think I did something not 100% right, I mentally have a discussion with the GREAT SPIRIT...acknowledge what I did...and say that I will try to imporove. I do not think any power, grand enough to create the UNIVERSE cares if I dont eat for 24 hours, or if i eat meat and milk, or a nice juicy lobster.....or a portion of bacon and eggs and cheese. The rules of KASRUTH,(kosher) are man made....and mean nothing to me....and I am sure, if there is a god up there, he doesnt think of diet, working, fasting.....and i am not sure what this god wants...when innocent people can be killed by the thousands...in an instant...or by the millions suffering...while calling out his name for help!!!!

In my attemtp to save the world, of course I need your help......(lol) the next step is serious recycling......How long can the planet continue..with natural resourses if we do not recycle. How many hundreds or thousands of years?? I dont know.... But if we use up all tHE sand to make glass, there will be no more beaches, if we use up all the iron, copper, etcetc...there will be no more building materials......You get the pix. I think that very serious recycling is needed.. Stop making plastic bags....use paper so we can use it again...And stop CHINA from manufacturing all the shit they do..that breaks in months...and gets thrown in the gargage dumps. Quality should be something that is returned to manufacturing...and...everything..should have a deposit on it..just as soda bottles used to. YES everything!!!! You would get a deposti back when you return your used tv, computer, toaster, blender...car, almost everything...so the materials will be used again.

The best Butternut SQUASH recipe ever...(I thought I wrote about this but couldnt find it...so here it is...if you red it...well sorry.....

Cut up one large butternut squash after peelign it....cut up one large potatoe after eeling, and two apples" put in a stew pan cover contents barely..and simmer till soft.most of the water should be gone by then. Keep whatever liquid is left...cool
In a separatepan, saute one very large onion after it is chopped....do notlet it brownn but translucent....remove and cool.

WHen cooled a bit put all in a blender or food processor and turn it into a creamy mass. Now add nutmeg and sinnamon to taste, salt and pepper...Put back in the pot and ad half and half(or milk) or soy milk) and make to your desired consistency....I like it sort o thick. add salt and pepper to taste.....reheat very slowly,,,and dont boil it....

taste..and correct to your taste buds.....its awesome. Now if your not a vegetarian, you can use chicken stock, or beef stock, but i like the natural taste of the veggies.

You can make many variations of this recipe...YOu can add curry to the onions..and make a curried squash soup. You can add a stalk of celery, carrots, and other things to slightly change the flavor.

to make a similar soup use carrots...and sweetpotatoes...throw in a prune or two and you will have cream of Tzimmis Soup...a very Jewish Holliday dish, that we will make into a soup......Cook the carrots and potaotes just like the veggies above, but you wont need a white poaote in this one.....you can serve it cold too...ad sour cream....add some hot sauce...or add some dill. The variation of my basic recipe is endless... make it for HALLOWEEN..using the Jackolantern....Cream of pumpkin SOUP...pumpkin carrot, pumpkins and sweet poatoes....add some tarragon.......and jest keep going....be inventive.....

I took off a day from saving the world......

after a day of rest from saving the world.....i am back to the next step i the list of items how we can all save the world....for a least a little time, until an asteroid turns the planet to bellybotton dust.

solar energy....we reall must fight for it... Heat our homes and businesses with it, produce enrgy from it...and eventually they will figure out how to run transportation on it..ENergy....to run trains and cards. Air planes might take another technoligy that hasnt been found yet.... They are still working on fusion...which is not radioactive...but...they havent found out how to build a fusion electropower plant yet.....well, if they did, they didnt tel me!!!

Water from the waves...the waves in all the ocens of the world are in constant motion...and if they can figure out how to harness it economically.... the waves will beable to turn turbines to produce electricity with no FUEL AT ALL>.....No gas, no coal....nothing but pure salt water.....in motion.

wind mills....think of what the Dutch accomplished with wind mills for hundres and hundres of years..they reclaimed half their country from the SEA......and now with sophisticated eqipment,, we should be able to produce a tremendous amount of electricy using modern technology..and it is being done...but just not enough....it needs to be mandated by a Federal Policy..but with EXXON MOBIL in control of the Governmnet....it wil be a very hard thing to do...

the core of this plant is still molten rock..with temperatures that need more than a rectal thermometer to read....In theory, we might catch some of its heat to turn water into steam, to sturn turbines to produce electricy.....and directly heat our homes..

9 years ago today.....on a similar beautiful day.....the WORLD CHANGED.My personal belief, whis a conspiracy theory, that CHENY and the military industrial complex was at the center of the bringing down of the WTC. I have been studing this, from the instant the planes hit their targets.

Rosh Hashana DInner, and the HORROR of the trip back home

we start the year with a wonderful dinner....which always starts with chopped liver, and a plate of CHEese....already not kosher, but who cares...it tastes great.. I was a bit late for dinner. The traffic was unreal. I went on 17, bumber to bumper, then on to rout 80, worse,,,then i got off and went thru the streets and got back on the GARDEN STATE PARKWAY.....bumper to bumper..what should have taken 35 minutes took...hour and 15.
The people were gathered....and then,,,came the guefelte fish, the salad and the chicken soup with soft wonderful matzo balls....followed by brisket, potaotes and gravy, casserole of french string beans in mushroom soup topped with onion rings...My neice made a very delicious sweet noodle kugel,there were carrots and peas, a stew of sweet potatoes and carrots and prunes called a tzimmes....stuffing without a chicken, and on and on....I stopped eating when my stomach hurt. There was wine....but i didnt have any... then the deserts...cakes, and a jello mold that was too pretty to eat..hopefully i can show you this if the phots come out...and i saew my grand nephew...for the seocnd time..a real cutey.....
theonly complaining was that there was too much food an everyone had pressure in their stomach.......every one behaved...no bickering....or yelling...or political discusions....... just nice lite talk....
BUt on the way home...things took a turn for the worse...once i got on 280 South...there was no way off.. All exits were closed...and there were no warnings...no detour signs....I couldnt get on to the GARDEN STATE Parkway home....I had to stay on that shitty hiway......and suddenly....with no signs...I was in horrible downtown NEWARK!!! drove around till I was aboe to cross the river....then I was in HARRISON.......and followed the river.....till I got to NORTH ARLINGTON.....found a bridge to cross back, found route 21 north......got to PASSAIC, then CLIFTON,,,,then to 46 and then to the GSP.....and eventually back to HOHOKUS.. What should have taken 30 min at night took an hour and half....and it was a bit nervwracking and scary.

SO THIS YEAR..WE AGAIN LOOK TO GET TOGETHER, HAVE CHICKEN SOUP, GIFUELTE FISH, POT ROAST AND SOME FORM OF FOWL, NINE MILLION VEGTABLES, SOME NICE KOSHER WINE...AND TOO MANY FATTENING DESSERTS...AND ALL KINDS OF CONDITMENTS LIKE PICKELS, TOMATOES, OLIVES, HORSERADISH.....PROBABLY SOME MATZOES, AND DONT FORGET THE CHOCLATE COVERED JELLY AND MARSHMELLOW CANDIES.

LaborDAY Blues, LAdy Pissed me off...etc

We used to have an auctin on LAborday....and the entiure world didnt forget....its been a few years. ,yet we did get one call today asking what time the auction begins....well. we told them we discontinued it a few years agao. That made me sad. I used to love being the auctioneer and clown, who would make the audience laugh, as I made some money......but the world has changed. 9/11 was the marker...when everything changed. People started buying less at the auction, and eventually, not enough people came to the new auctin hall. The kids of furniture we had....that we found inexpensively and refinished.....not only was hard to find...but we lost our refinishing plant...the building was sold.... ANd that was the only way we were able to sell things so cheaply. We sold great and unusual reproductions....and most of the dealers who supplied us, went out of business.
We went to Europe to buy and shipped things here...The Dollar became worthless to the EURO, and prices went up even in HUNGARY, because they were running our of things to sell. Even the GYPSIES.. couldnt find things to steal.....
And finally, tastes had changed...Our old customer base of 5000 people....had enough stuff. They didnt need anymore. Their homes were filled. Their children getting older......and som eof them started downsizing....or moving away. Their kids had a diffrerent taste in decorating, and either took mommies stuff...so they didnt need us....or they didnt want it. THEY WANTED MODERN... 29TH CENT MODERN. HOLLYWOOD RECGENCY...STRAIGHT LINES..THINGS FROM THE 30,60 AND 70'S .. TO THEM THOSE WERE ANTIQUES.
ADVERTISING IN THE NEWSPAPER PEOPLE PROHIBITED IN COST. THE COST OF SENDING OUT THE MAILINGS. BECAME OBSCENE.....POSTAGE, COMPUTER UPDATING ETC.....NOW AD INSULT TO INJURY WE HAVE EBAY...(MAY A GIANT METERIORITE LAND ON THEIR ROOF) YOU HAVE CRAIGS LIST WHICH NOW GIVES ALL MENTALLY ILL PEOPLE A PLACE TO HANG OUT AND HARASS PEOPLE WHILE SHOPPING....(AND A FEW PEOPLE GO TO MURDER PEOPLE-SO BECAREFUL) AND YES, WE DO ADVERTISE ON CFRAIGS LIST....AND WE ARE WELL PROTECTED!!!!! AND THE ANTIQUE ROAD SHOW, THE PORN STARS AND OTHER SUCH BULLSHIT PROGREAMS OVER EDUCATED EVERY SENILE OLD LADY....SO THEY THINK THEIR OLD PANTIES ARE EVEN WORTH MONEY.....SO ITS HARD FOR US TO BUY...AND THE ECONOMY.....WENT TO HELL....PUT IT ALL TOGETHER...AND I WONDER WHY I AM STILL IN BUSINESS..

I would start an organization that would find lonely older people....and try to make their life better by ...not a visiting nurse service...but a visiting "freind" service....who would visit, talk, teach...maybe bring an animal along....and make their lives more cheerful.....This organization would only have an administrational cost......workers would be volunteers...and animals dont charge anything either to go and visit and give kisses to lonley people. These visiters might assiste them in cooking.....or bake them a cake, or maybe take them shopping, or to a movie....and the concept would evolve....into bigger and better thngs than the past few sentences...what do you think. you can wirte me..at buddylubman@aol.com.....
I would OPen various "soup kitchers...but would not only feed the hungry, but have them help...once a week, or once a month, to make them feel worthy..if they are out of work, homeless....Gibing people something do do....something to look forward too..is a ver meaning full things. Besides homeless shelters....I would build centers...to educate, socialize...feed, check health....and a place to make them feel part of something.....and take a bath. Yes, I am idealistic and of course not realistic..for how could I suddenly come into so many millions of dollars to make this happen.
The lists of charities is endles.....but it would be a beginig for many of them to have a self sustaining source of income for them to continue.....
