AIRMONT EATS......a new Deli on RT 59, in the same shoping center asw APPLEBEES, on the corner of rt 59 and AIRMONT AVE. The first thing you nhotice wupn entering is a wood fired pizza oven, pastry cases filled with home made goodies...and a faint smokey smell that encourgaes eating.
The menu of the entire place is printed on giant blackboards above the counters.
Other cases are filled with a wonderful array of cooked foods and unusual salads.
The choices are amazing....as I walked down furhter towards the back, I noticed other choices of grilled foods,like giant burgers, shish kabobs...of manyh meats and fishes....
The lighting in very bright and shows how increibly clean and organized this place is...ON the wall opppoiste the food conters, are cases filled with all kinds of drinks and foods prepackaged to go.
When you keep walking, you find anoher room filled with all types of wood booths and tables....a lunch room where nothing matches..and tht is the charm of this room. One wall has a 15food American flag naited to the wall..but it is made out of thick wood...with cut out stars. ANd most of the furniture, cabinets, shelves, and decor came from that Famous GRANNYS ATTIC INN HOHOKUS and MAHWAH>>
The entiure set up makes you wanbt to eat....and making a decision was very diffiuclt. Everything was so appetizing. I had to choose a few things..so I could write a critique. I stared out with two skewers of lmab kabobs, over a brown rice pilaf with little chucksn of veggies... and all for 8.99, which is an incredible bargain. The food was fresh,tasty..and wonderful. I had a side order of fresh cut potatoes cooked in peanut oil. Fresh and tasty, something not found anywhere.. most places still stick to fronen crap..
The hilite of the evening was their pizza. They called it a Marguerita I think. Ver thin dough, fresh tomatoe sauce, fresh basil leavs, and fresh mosserella cheese etc.. This is the most poerfect pizza I have ever eaten on the entire planet.....the taste was simple...not intense, but was what every pizza should be. tasy, not to intense in any way..thin crust, not too filling....and I ate the entire pizza after the kabob, and still wasnt over fed....
and still was able to eat...a piece of desser....forgot what they called it...but it looked like scicilian pizza, but with sliced apples all over the top (not sauce or cheee of course)
Thye total expericne was happy, tasty, and bright.
THere was an armed robbery rought around the corner yesterday..SAT Afternoon..soon after 4pm. I didnt know about it until today, hwne a HOHOKUS cop came to visit and tell me, and asked me if I aw something....I asked all of the emplyees if there were any strange cars in the lot ..but no one saw anything...A store name CLOVER>.that sells rperos and chackas..was hit...the women locked i the bathroom, after theri 30,000dollarss worth of jewellry was stolen along with 800 in cash.
Someting seems fishy to me about it..The store is noting special,and why would the women wear that kind of jewlery to work in a store as a slaeslady.......Either they were set up...by someone who knew that they wore the jewelry....or.....it is a strange co-incidence.....they perp had to either cross the stream to get to the parking lot on our side of the stream, where a car might hav ebeen waiting.....or run around our building....luckily no one was hurt. But soemthing just seems fishy to me....
I had a long conversation with two custoemrs that are wrm and wonderful. Found out today they are religious and had a diaglogue about certain aspects of philopshy...of Jesus, and things in the BIBLE...we didnt really different to much ....we both belive in doing the right thing.
The next customer was JEWISH ORTHODOX, another person that I know for 20 years, but first met only two weeks ago. We got into a conversation.....he sounded more like BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN than JEWISH> They belive in Creationism...and belived that NOAH didnt tkae all animals with him on the ark, that was the size of two football fields..(which technology of the time doesnt seem possible)
This man belived like the BORN AGAINS that there were dinasaurs running around the world at the same time of NOAH, and they nver got on to the ark, than away and all drowned....He said "no one reallyh belives in Darwinism any more...no one really belives in evolution"...I asked whim exactly which "nobodies" he was talking about.. I told him, everyone that I know.....does. I went on to eplain that our archeloglist do not find dinasaur bones at the same levels as hominids) That they were millions of years before.. Mr Yalmulka argued. I discussed carbon dating......levels of digging...etc...but of course, his rationalization was rediculous...
