The Stuffed CABBAGES are in Bloom, The Bears will be fed...&other Hungarian News

I am in the land of the elsusive stuffed cabbage of life...Hungary. Where the smallest restuarant, street vendor.....serves incredible gourmet food. Where "CAKE HOUSES" differ from Bakeries....in that what are in their lit cases, are jewels of what we wouuld think of as French PASTRIES....small morsels....of incredible edibles..cake with cream, fresh fruit, marsipan and a tremensous amount of creativity...Most cake houses also serve home made icecream, whose flavor makes HAGGENDAZ an inferior brand....
So far i did a very strange thing...I rested.....more rest in a few days, that I got in a year at home...I crashed....Once here I couldnt stay awake.....which means, this trip was long needed... No phones to answer....customers to argue or bargin with......I know my store is in good hands....with good people...who often do better with me away.....
Today, we are going to a BEAR and Wolf Sanctuary right here in this cute little town ov Vereshegyhaz, a suburb of Budapest...about the same distance as HOHOKUS is from NEW YORK CITY...Used bears and wolves from all over Europe are sent here....to spend the rest of their lives in peace and harmony....all different flavor bears....are here..and they seem to get along......how interesting.. MAybe we can learn something from these vicious animals> Later, I am going to greet them, with a large stick that i stick into a jar of honey....they will come to the fence and lick the honey off the stick.......and for those of you who dont know...i am scared shitless of bears...so this will be quite an experience.....The wolves only eat meat....but i forgot to bring a bag of REpublicans with me to throw over the fence.....sorry wolves, next time... I wonder if they will eat fillet of Pallin, leg of Limbaugh, and neck of BECK.
You know how we Americans always think we have the biggest and best of everything...? Well, i went to a store...in Bedapest outskirts...called AUCHAN...its sort of a FRENCH Walmart...but its so big.....Once you are in, you can see the other side of the store..if you have binoculars...It must be at least a quarter of a mile long....The food department...for example....as two long aisles....just for SALAMIS of Europe.......Can you imagine a few hundred feet of different salamis......the meat aisle is a few hundred feet long...with every part of every animal there.....incliding rabbit fillets, rabbit stew meat, rabbit legs, and a packet of sealed rabbit livers....every part of the pig was there.....ears, legs, tails, noses, heads, bones, stomach, livers,hearts....the only item that was vaccuum packes were pig assholes.....which i heard they bread and deep fry and call them some kind of pretzle....
They had a huge delidepartment........with every type of ham, bologna, roast beef, pig and other things, all kinds of PATES,sliced cheese....thing you dont ever see in America...and maybe we dont want to see them..some were probably 99 percent chloresterol....and made from brains, blood, internal organs....and left over Nuclear waster from Chernobel....I wanted to get close to the case, but there was a line not to be believed....and only two creepily slow workers behind the counter......I wantd to buy some of the pates, which we rarely see.......and cant afford....I think the food prices on most items is roughly half American prices....except soda...is about the same.>>>>.
The had a huge fish tank...but instead of LOBSTERES that we are used to seeing..this tank was filled with live fish....they were all CARP......but the tank had more fish in it than water..It was cruel and sad...The fish were actually touching each other....hardly any room to move around.....and it was filled from top to bottom....right to left....like sardines in a can..with a few drops of water...This is cruel......
Hungarians love jam and jelly......when I grew up we always had strawberry, apricot and Prune "lekvar" in the refrigerater..and Grandma would always drink coffee and have jam on rye bread....as she told me stories about her homeland....Hungary.....niether of us would have dreamed that someday....I wouuld be schlepping around HUngary....not as a tourist.......buying Jelly and jam at stores and flea markets.......Well this store...had a huge selection of JAms and Jellys from all over EUrope.....and at the Market in the Street today....ladies were selling their homemade concoctions.....
TOday, Saturday...is market day in the streets of VERESHEGYHAZ...a suburb 18 miles from Budapest.... The streets are lines with tables, tents, booths, or just blankets on the ground displaying their wares......Half of the market is Fresh fruits and veggies...and a very healthy selection....the other half is all kinds of clothing and accessories, table cloths and other fabric things...and the third half is everything else from used crap, to toys, kitchen wares and other useless bargains......it was fun to walk around....many of the Merchants were Gypsies...true died in the wool Gypsies...those who Hitler threw into the ovens with the JEWS...for the same crime....just being who they were..
Their reputation is somewhat steriotypically correct. They used to travel around in wagons, steal local children to keep their DNA mixed so their wouldnt have too much inbreeding...and they were experts at shop lifting......and stealing just about anyting..
